Successful Bugstravaganza

Nine eight year old girls descended upon our house to paint ladybug banks, check out Camille's bedroom, hunt for plastic bugs in the grass, giggle and squeal, eat rice-krispie treats with plastic spiders hidden in them (Camille's idea), ooooohh and aaaaahh over the gifts they got her, make bracelets with ladybug glass beads, and moan when their parents came. Camille had a great time with her friends and declared it a buggy success. (She designed and added the spider drawn with M&Ms on top of her cake.)

Thanks for the inspiration and encouragement! Ever since we lived by a particle accelerator in Israel, I've been trying to get anabelle to have particle physics birthday party, but she keeps shooting down the idea. It's made me concerned about her interest in science. Fortunately, I convinced her to have an archeology/paleontology birthday this year... maybe next year I can steal Camielle's idea and have an entomology b-day.. then then next year a chemistry b-day, and by age eight we'll finally get her to want a particle accelerator birthday cake!
